Schnyder upsets Kuznetsova in Germany

Patty Schnyder beat fifth-seeded Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 on Wednesday and advanced to the second round of the Porsche Grand Prix.
Schnyder improved to 3-5 against Kuznetsova with her first victory over the Russian in more than three years. Schnyder had lost her last three matches to Kuznetsova after defeating her in the German Open in 2005.
“I played a great match, it was a real fight,” the Swiss left-hander said. “There were lots of winners and break points.
